happy friday! here’s what’s new on fbb this week ☺︎

burnt honey brioche donuts

These are the new recipe of the week and I am in love with them. Donuts might actually be my favorite dessert because I love brioche, and these are just fried brioche…so what’s not to love? Anyways, here’s the rundown -

  • brioche donuts: aka a super fluffy donut that’s enriched with eggs, milk & butter.

  • burnt honey cream: we’re making a pastry cream that’s sweetened with burnt (caramelized) honey and then lightening it up with some whipped cream. To make the cute little design on top I put some of the custard to the side to pipe on top with the burnt honey whipped cream afterwards.

  • sugar coating: for a little sweet crunch, of course.

Sidenote: they’re pictured with a little honeycomb piece on top (which I burnt, accidentally, but also on theme.) I tried a few different honeycomb recipes before making these donuts and honestly they’re pretty but don’t taste the best (even when I didn’t burn it) so just keep that in mind for if you want to make them or not!

nutella chocolate chip cookies

These just got a little picture update on the blog. I call them ‘nutella’ cookies because it flows much better than chocolate hazelnut spread chocolate chip cookies, but really I use bonne maman’s chocolate hazelnut spread in these because it’s the best (not sponsored.) These are essentially my (self-proclaimed) perfect brown butter chocolate chip cookies filled with hazelnuts & stuffed with a big ol’ scoop of chocolate hazelnut spread - because why have plain ccc’s when you can have even more chocolatey ccc’s?

strawberries and cream cake

This got a picture update and a tiny recipe update on the blog this week. This is my strawberries and cream cake, of which the looks are inspired by fraisier cake. It starts out with a super moist and fluffy vanilla cake, which gets filled with instant vanilla pudding that we whip up with heavy cream instead of milk. The little recipe update is a homemade strawberry jam option, which I swirled into the pudding for even more fresh strawberry flavor. It also gets piled high with homemade whipped cream and a ton of fresh strawberries. Overall it’s a super light, refreshing, and delicious cake for these warmer months.

.aaand that’s all for this week! You can find the burnt honey brioche donut recipe below or on my blog. Thank you so much for reading and following along!

happy baking!
